Nikki and Kate's Insightful Journey Through Holland's Floral Industry

Let me whisk you to Holland

Nikki (Chair of The British Florist Associaion) and Kate (Vice-Chair) were very lucky to see behind the scenes of some of the most world-renowned growers and breeders in Holland recently.

Day 1 kicked off with a visit to Bloemen Bureau Holland (formally Flower Council of Holland) where they met with Rob and Yvonne (Managing Director of the Flower Council of Holland), to discuss ways we can work together to strengthen and promote the industry.

Day 2 was a kaleidoscope of colours at Coloríginz, where Merel from Florismartdirect introduced them to their vibrant world of specialised brands, packaging and product. Their state-of-the-art technology was something to behold!

Then, it was off to Infoflowersplants to meet Lucas to chat about how they can work together with the cut flower information his website provides. Nikki and Kate then headed off to Decorum, where the dynamic duo Ron and Erick gave them the grand tour of their quality brands and growers including Calla lily growers Future Flowers BV , cut Kalanchoe and freesia grower Hoflandflowergroup and lily grower Moermanlilium to name but a few!

Day 3 took them deeper into the heart of Dutch floral excellence. Henk from Van der Plas Flowerexport escorted them through an array of top-notch exporters, introducing them to the likes of Dutch Lily Masters, Tilburg Orchids, and Zonnerveld. This was followed by a meeting with Joost and Hein from Vianen More Than Flowers who shared in our excitement for future collaborations.

Wrapping up on Day 4, they delved into the operations of Tesselaar Alstroemeria and VOORN Spray Roses, soaking up knowledge about sustainability and breeding programs. The day ended with a jaw-dropping trip to Marginpar where Nikki and Kate were greeted by Helena and shown the Marginpar operation and their new logistics hub.
